If you have any questions about the beliefs I have, I am an open book. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. This is not an exhaustive list of what I believe.
About the Bible
I believe the Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the inspired (God-breathed) Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21). I believe this based upon the witness of Scripture itself along with how it is corroborated by numerous other evidences. As a result, I believe the Bible to be inerrant and authoritative. I base my beliefs upon the Word of God.
I believe that the Holy Scriptures have been faithfully transmitted to us through history by the providence of God, to where we can know for certain that the text as it was originally given is materially the same text as it was written by the biblical authors (Matthew 24:35; 1 Peter 1:22-25; John 10:35).
I believe there is one true and living God, who eternally exists in three concurrent persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are equal in divine perfection (Genesis 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:9; John 10:30; John 17:5; Matthew 3:16-17).
I believe that God is the source of life, eternal, immutable in His character, perfectly wise, and totally sufficient in every aspect of His being. He is sovereign, loving, completely good and holy, morally perfect, all-powerful within the bounds of His character, all-knowing and transcends all limitations of space, and operating in our world through His providence (this list could go on and on!)
I believe man was created by God in His own image and that before sin man had perfect fellowship and peace with God. Unfortunately, through his sin, man incurred physical and spiritual death. As a result, sin separates people from God and causes them to be lost and without hope apart from salvation in Jesus Christ (Genesis 1:27; 3:8; Romans 5:12-20; 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22; Ephesians 2:1-10).
I believe the Gospel is the good news of God’s saving actions towards sinners through Jesus. Jesus, the Son of God, literally took on human nature, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death for sinners, and was raised from the dead by the power of God (John 3:16; John 1:1-5,14; Heb. 4:15; 1 John 2:1-2; Romans 3:25; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus paid the full price for sin and is the only hope for salvation.
I believe salvation is a gift that comes only by God’s grace and mercy, and is accessed when we, with a repentant faith, are united with Christ in His death. At this point, God makes us alive together with Him to be seated in the Heavenly places; being born again (Ephesians 2:4-9; Colossians 2:11-14; Luke 13:3; John 3:16; Romans 6:1-7).
I believe that Christians can be assured of and have confidence in their salvation (1 John 5:13; Romans 8:1) as they follow the voice of their Shepherd (John 10:27), put to death the deeds of the body (Romans 8:12-13), and fully trust in the grace of God to overcome sin (1 Peter 1:13).
About Christian Living
I believe that every things we do as Christians is tied back to an overriding love of God and love of our fellow man (Matthew 22:36-40).
I believe that we are to glorify God in all that we do (Matthew 5:16).
I believe that a faith that “talks the talk,” but does not “walk the walk” is a dead faith (James 2:20-24). God is not pleased with superficial, hypocritical, and legalistic religion (Mark 7:6-23). Jesus teaches that we can tell by one’s fruits whether or not they belong to Him (Matthew 7:16-20).
I believe God has given us the great commission to participate with Him in seeking and saving the lost, both in the local community as well as abroad (John 20:21; Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16). I believe this is the responsibility of every member of the body of Christ, not just a few.
About the End of Time
I believe Jesus will return at any moment in the future; that His return is imminent. At this time there will be a bodily resurrection (described below) and the final judgment.
I believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost—the saved to endless joy, living and reigning with Christ, and the lost to endless punishment away from the presence of God (John 12:48; John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:31-46).
About the Church
I believe universal church is composed of all genuine followers of Christ who exist to worship, serve, and glorify God.
I also believe that all members of the universal church are to be committed members of a local church family that is faithful in following the pattern given to us by our Good Shepherd and His Apostles in scripture so that they can receive accountability and teaching, while also being equipped to serve God in their everyday lives.
I do not believe that God approves of of the existence of denominations and the divisions that they cause. The goal of all those who claim to be Christians must be to be unified in their doctrines and practices, and to be part of a local congregation like the ones that are in the Bible.
I believe that local churches in the Bible are organized in a way that we are to follow if we want to be faithful New Testament churches.
I believe God gives specific work to local churches. This is also a pattern that we need to follow if we want to be faithful local churches like the ones in the New Testament.
